UK Staycation Guide For Teachers

UK Staycation

Welcome to our UK staycation guide for 2021. No matter what type of holiday you are looking for, there is something for everyone right here in the UK. To help you find the best staycation possible, we have listed a handful of the best staycation locations, ranging from inexpensive, fun, outdoorsy, and everything in between.

Cornwall

Are you looking for the ideal UK Staycation location for the entire family? Why not head down to Cornwall, England’s most southwestern point. During the warmer months, Cornwall can feel like a holiday abroad. Alongside its seaside beauty, you can utilise the warmer months by getting tickets for a show at the open-air Minack Theatre.

While it is a stunning location during the warmer parts of the year, Cornwall isn’t just a summer staycation location. When the sun begins to disappear, you can duck into the rainforest domes at the Eden Project and explore their eco-friendly innovations. Once you are done browsing the incredible innovation of The Eden Project, you can pop into a pub for a pint of beer or a traditional Cornish pasty (or two).

Edinburgh

The charming and breezy Scottish capital is genuinely one of the most exciting places to visit, especially during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The festival is known for being the world’s biggest arts festival, which means the city becomes extremely busy (a testament to the festival’s greatness) – so book your tickets in advance.

Alongside the Fringe Festival, Edinburgh has a lot to offer the casual tourist. From historical landmarks like Edinburgh Castle to the National Museum of Scotland, there are lots of places to visit. Or, if you fancy something a little spookier, why not visit The World Famous Underground Ghost Tour?

Brighton

Sure, there are plenty of beach holidays across the UK, but Brighton is one of the most charming and whimsical. You can head over to the pier in the summer and grab an ice cream, or you can head over to the town’s historic quarter and explore the beautiful independent cafes and shops.

Brighton is the perfect weekend getaway location, as you can enjoy classic British fish and chips and embrace the seaside vibes. Also, the Lanes is one of the most incredible spots around and is a must when visiting Brighton.

York

Known for being one of the UK’s best tourist destinations, York is the perfect place to visit for a UK Staycation. The ancient Roman city of York has a lot to offer, from its iconic tourist attractions like the York Minster cathedral, the Shambles (an old English street), to York’s Chocolate Story.

York has many bars, restaurants, and fabulous independent stores to visit outside of the iconic tourist attractions. Plus, York makes for a great base if you plan on exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside of the Yorkshire Dales.

London

Are you looking for a UK Staycation that is larger than life? Why not take a trip to London? No matter the weather, London is full to the brim with things to keep you entertained. From a trip to the West End, incredible nightlife, museums, sightseeing attractions, no two days in London will be the same.

The Lake District

If you are looking for an outdoorsy holiday, then The Lake District could be for you. The Lake District is known for being a fantastic place to go hiking, but it also has several amazing scenic walks for the casual tourist. From Old Man Coniston to the walk from Patterdale to St Sunday Craig, there are many options to choose from. Plus, you can stop off for a pint in the tiny, picturesque towns in the park’s centre, like the Grasmere.

Be warned, accommodation in The Lake District books up promptly, so act quickly if you plan on taking a trip.
