Workplace friendships can improve career satisfaction. You can talk about the stress you are feeling instead of keeping it tensed up inside.

Recognise what you do well

As a teacher, when you have a bad day it is easy to get bogged down in what went wrong. Sometimes teaching can feel like the world is against you. However, it’s important to recognise what you do well. Recognise your achievements so far and highlight your best skills. You will see all the great qualities you as an educator bring to the classroom.

Prepare ahead of schedule

Planning is essential, you must have a plan going into your classes. Following a pre-made plan is much easier. If you are not the planning type maybe now is the time to start. Take time to plan out your lessons in advance before your classes. It does not have to be perfect. You can create and rework your class schedule.

Leave schoolwork at school

When you want to keep yourself from burning out, the best idea is to create boundaries for yourself. It’s important to keep your work at work and your home at home. Saying no sometimes to both personal and professional opportunities is ok. Boundaries are an important and a healthy part of life. If you must do some work after hours, aim to do it at school. Keep your home as the place where you can relax.

Make yourself a priority

It’s important to take care of yourself. When you are happy, you are a better teacher. Furthermore, when you enjoy life, you’re more likely to thrive in your career.
